Meta has apologised for a glitch in which Facebook sent friend requests to every profile that a user had viewed — leaving a number of users embarrassed and rushing to delete the requests, or, in some cases, their entire accounts. “We fixed a bug related to a recent app update that caused some Facebook friend requests to be sent mistakenly,” a spokesperson for Meta told The Daily Beast. “We’ve stopped this from happening and we apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused.” According to accounts on other social media platforms like Twitter, it caused plenty of inconvenience. “As someone with a severe nosiness problem, this Facebook auto friend request glitch is very spooky and uncool with me,” one Twitter user with the username Lucy wrote. Last Friday, following a Facebook app update, users began sending out a stream of warnings on other social media platforms about the dangers of using the platform when their “nosiness” could be exposed to the very people whose profiles they’d been viewing. The Daily Mail quoted one social media user as writing that the glitch amounted to the “end of stalking.” Now that Meta has fixed the glitch, there is presumably less need to worry. For some, however, the damage may be done. “Facebook update s*cks!” another Twitter user wrote. “It automatically sent a friend request to account you stalked, lmao Imagine you stalked your ex or your enemy and they received a friend request notification.” There was some question over whether the glitch affected Apple phone users in the same way that it did Android users, but the glitch likely is not good news for a platform that has struggled to maintain the attention and affection of younger social media users who have migrated to platforms like Snapchat and TikTok in recent years.

A planet with conditions on the surface resembling Earth has been discovered a relatively short distance from us. The planet, named Wolf 1069 b, is the sixth closest exoplanet to Earth has been found and the findings were published in the journal Astronomy & Astrophysics. The planet was discovered during a study called CARMENES which is a long-term study based around finding exoplanets. Encouragingly, scientists believe that the planet sits in the habitable zone around its sun where water can exist in liquid form. The study was undertaken by a team led by astronomer Diana Kossakowski of the Max Planck Institute for Astronomy. Kossakowski said: "When we analyzed the data of the star Wolf 1069, we discovered a clear, low-amplitude signal of what appears to be a planet of roughly Earth mass. "It orbits the star within 15.6 days at a distance equivalent to one-fifteenth of the separation between the Earth and the sun." It comes after a new planet was discovered with a surprisingly fluffy composition - like candy floss. The exoplanet, WASP-193b, was discovered 1,232 light-years away and while it's nearly 50 percent bigger than Jupiter, it's light and fluffy making it as dense as the sweet treat. According to a team led by astronomer Khalid Barkaoui of the University of Liège in Belgium, the planet orbits a Sun-like star named WASP-193. This star is around 1.1 times the mass and 1.2 times the radius of the Sun and is very close to the Sun in temperature and age. The planet orbits the star around once every 6.25 days. D’Amelio captioned the Instagram post, “Darling don’t feel bad for me” and posed in the top along with ripped jeans, dark sunglasses and a black handbag. One comment on the post read: “You know children see this.” Another said: “So unclassy. Hope young girls don’t get ‘influenced’ by this.” In possibly one of the most sickening responses, one Instagram user said they hoped she would be a victim of a mass shooting. The TeaTok Talk account shared screenshots of some of the horrible responses D’Amelio received and some which she replied to. An Instagram user wrote, “Bro your [sic] a bad example”, to which D’Amelio hit back: “I have said from the beginning that I am not a role model.
