Dixie D’Amelio responds to shocking 'mass shooting' comment about her transparent top
Dixie D’Amelio responds to shocking 'mass shooting' comment about her transparent top
TikToker and singer Dixie D’Amelio received horrendous backlash and is branded a “bad example” for children after wearing a transparent top. D’Amelio is a major star on the social media platform with over 57 million followers and is the older sister of fellow TikTok star Charli D’Amelio. Since breaking up with fellow influencer Noah Beck, the older sister has been through some changes including cutting her previously long hair and replacing it with a buzzcut. But, it was another risky fashion statement that sparked controversy across social media after D’Amelio wore a transparent top that showed her breasts. Sign up to our free Indy100 weekly newsletter The star was seen in both a TikTok video and an Instagram post wearing the same shirt, igniting comments from critics who claimed she was being a bad role model to her young female followers. D’Amelio captioned the Instagram post, “Darling don’t feel bad for me” and posed in the top along with ripped jeans, dark sunglasses and a black handbag. One comment on the post read: “You know children see this.” Another said: “So unclassy. Hope young girls don’t get ‘influenced’ by this.” In possibly one of the most sickening responses, one Instagram user said they hoped she would be a victim of a mass shooting. The TeaTok Talk account shared screenshots of some of the horrible responses D’Amelio received and some which she replied to. An Instagram user wrote, “Bro your [sic] a bad example”, to which D’Amelio hit back: “I have said from the beginning that I am not a role model. I do me and want to be myself.” Have your say in our news democracy. Click the upvote icon at the top of the page to help raise this article through the indy100 rankings.

Doctors reattach boy's head after suffering 'internal decapitation'
Doctors reattach boy's head after suffering 'internal decapitation'
Doctors have performed a minor miracle after re-attaching a “'decapitated” boy’s head after he was hit by a car. The miraculous surgery occurred after Suleiman Hassan, a Palestinian boy from the West Bank, was severely injured after being hit by a car while out riding his bike. He was airlifted to Hadassah Ein Kerem’s Trauma Unit in Jerusalem and went straight to surgery. He suffered what is known as an internal decapitation – this occurs when the base of the skull and top of the spine become detached by the skin remains intact. This extremely rare injury can occur when a strong, sudden impact on the head results in the muscles and ligaments that hold the head in place to sever, accounting for less than one per cent of spinal injuries. Sign up to our free Indy100 weekly newsletter Doctors explained that Hassan’s head was “'almost completely detached from the base of his neck” before he underwent painstaking surgery taking several hours. The procedure involves reattaching the skull and spinal column using technology such as screws, rods, plates and bone grafts. One of the surgeons who operated on Hassan, Dr Ohad Einav, told The Times of Isreal: “We fought for the boy’s life.” Dr Einav continued: “The procedure itself is very complicated and took several hours. While in the operating room, we used new plates and fixations in the damaged area… “Our ability to save the child was thanks to our knowledge and the most innovative technology in the operating room.” Surgeries such as the one that saved Hassan’s life are only possible if internal decapitation victims have their major blood vessels intact, keeping the brain alive. Hassan’s surgery took place in June but has only recently been made public as the boy continues to recover at home with rehabilitation. Miraculously, Hassan can walk unaided and has no neurological problems following the shocking injury. Have your say in our news democracy. Warning over criminals using digital switchover to scam vulnerable people
Warning over criminals using digital switchover to scam vulnerable people
Criminals are exploiting the analogue to digital switchover in the UK’s telephone network to scam elderly and vulnerable people, councils have warned. The Local Government Association (LGA) said it had issued the warning after becoming concerned the transition was creating new opportunities for scammers. Specifically, the LGA said it was concerned about the around 1.8 million people who use healthcare telephony devices, and which may need changing as part of the digital switchover. It said it had seen recent reports of scammers who call residents with healthcare devices and claim the resident needs to hand over bank details as part of the switchover, or they will be disconnected. As the digital switchover date approaches, sadly we fear that further cases will arise Councillor Heather Kidd, from the LGA The digital switchover will see most UK telephone providers move their customers from old analogue landlines to new, upgraded services which use digital technology, with the changes taking place up to 2025. Councillor Heather Kidd, chair of the LGA’s safer and stronger communities board, said: “We are very concerned by a rise in criminals taking advantage of the digital switchover to trick vulnerable residents into giving out personal information such as their bank details. “As the digital switchover date approaches, sadly we fear that further cases will arise. “Councils will always act swiftly with the police where any incidents are reported, but we also urge people to be vigilant and help to raise awareness of this crime. “The digital switchover is free of charge and residents should be aware that councils and their home care alarm providers or contractors will never ask for personal or financial information over the phone.” The LGA said anyone who is the victim of a scam or fraudulent activity should report it to Action Fraud as well as their local trading standards team.
