When in a long-term relationship, it can sometimes be difficult to maintain the fun and spontaneity of the earlier years and to fall back on routines. But content creator Stephanie Booe has shared her tip for getting the spark back with what she has called “alphabet dating”. Alphabet dating involves going through the alphabet and picking a date activity that corresponds to that letter. In one video about the dating trick, Booe revealed that on their A-themed date, she and her partner ate appetisers before going axe-throwing. Sign up to our free Indy100 weekly newsletter She explained: “We went to a new restaurant, ordered a few appetizers instead of entrees and then we went axe throwing for the first time ever! “This was such an easy and simple little way to uproot us from our comfort zone and to do something we wouldn’t normally do.” She also added: “Hear me when I say that this doesn’t have to be big, fancy, or expensive. That’s part of the challenge! You don’t have to go out every week, you can easily find ways to do these themed date nights at home.” One Instagrammer wrote: “I love this idea!” Another said: “I love this idea! Could also easily be turned into a snack + movie-night-in with the coordinating letter if needed.” Booe recommended that partners take turns to plan dates, taking alternate letters in the alphabet. It turns out that human ancestors and dinosaurs could have actually co-existed, according to new research. Scientists have produced a study which suggested that placental mammals were around before the asteroid that brought an end to the Cretaceous period hit Earth 66 million years ago. A new paper published in the journal Current Biology claims that fossil records of placental mammals suggests that our ancestors roamed the Earth before the extinction event, and later flourished due to the lack of competition from dinosaur species afterwards. According to the research, primates evolved shortly before the asteroid hit. Sign up to our free Indy100 weekly newsletter Lead author Emily Carlisle of Bristol’s School of Earth Sciences said: “We pulled together thousands of fossils of placental mammals and were able to see the patterns of origination and extinction of the different groups.” Carlisle added: “Based on this, we could estimate when placental mammals evolved.” “The model we used estimates origination ages based on when lineages first appear in the fossil record and the pattern of species diversity through time for the lineage,” co-author Daniele Silvestro from the University of Fribourg shared. While we don’t have a full picture of what human ancestors looked like at that time, it’s thought they “were small and squirrely”. Spotify is preparing to launch a new “Supremium” tier, with extra features for a higher price, according to new rumours. The membership will cost $19.99 – twice the current price – and offer a variety of new features. Chief among them is expected to be lossless audio, which is already offered for free on rival Apple Music. But the extra tier will also offer advanced playlist mixing tools that allow people to choose songs by tempo, feel, activity and more. It will have new listening stats, the inclusion of audiobook listening and AI playlist generation tools, according to technology expert Chris Messina, who found mentions of the update within Spotify. Spotify has focused heavily on artificial intelligence tools in recent months. They have included the addition of an AI DJ that not only automatically selects songs but also introduces them, and AI-powered translation that allows people to listen to podcasts in other languages but with realistic-sounding voices. Spotify’s HiFi tier has been in the works for years. The company first announced it at the beginning of 2021, but it has not arrived since, and there have been rumours about it ever since. The new leaks suggest that the upgrade will bring 24-bit lossless audio. That bitrate matches the high-quality offering on other music streaming services, such as Apple Music. A number of streaming services have launched HiFi or lossless tiers in recent months, even as most people listen with Bluetooth headphones that are unable to actually play music at high enough quality. Amazon has a lossless plan that costs $14.99 per month, for instance, and Tidal offers its HiFi plan at $19.99. It is unclear whether Spotify will offer any more revenue to artists from the extra cost of the higher-priced lossless plan. The company has received sustained criticism for the relatively small fees it pays to musicians when their music is streamed.
