You would think that a band named Rage Against the Machine would be pretty radical in terms of their politics, and you would be right, but that hasn’t stopped right-wingers complaining about a tweet from guitarist Tom Morello taking aim at Nazis. This is a controversial take for some conservatives, apparently. On Thursday, Morello tweeted a graphic which reads: “German saying: If nine people sit down at a table with one Nazi without protest, there are 10 Nazis at the table.” Pretty uncontroversial. As Uproxx notes, it’s not too far removed from the oft-cited quote from the late human rights activist Desmond Tutu: “If you are neutral in situations of injustice, you have chosen the side of the oppressor.” And yet, conservatives on Twitter – many of whom have paid the social media platform for a coveted blue tick – aren’t happy with the idea behind this thought experiment, with many getting angry over “communists” for some reason: They’re even kicking off under Morello’s tweet in the form of Community Notes – Twitter’s tool used to provide context to a post if it’s inaccurate. Oops. And to be clear about whether or not it is actually a German saying, one Reddit thread from 2018 saw users discuss its validity, with all but one claiming they haven’t come across it. However prominent the saying may be in Germany, we’d like to think many can get behind the sentiment no matter where it came from, but looking at the tweets above, we’d be wrong… Have your say in our news democracy. Mr Beast is known for his huge giveaways on YouTube and he’s looking to step things up a notch with his next project. The content creator, real name Jimmy Donaldson, has been sharing his ideas for a brand new game show on social media. It's not just any old game show, either. The 25-year-old wants to give away the “largest prize” ever and make TV history. He might be the biggest name on YouTube, but it looks like he’s trying to involve other streaming platforms in his next big idea too. Sign up to our free Indy100 weekly newsletter Writing on Twitter, Donaldson said: “I want to test what I do on YouTube on a streaming service for fun to see how it performs.” He added: “Imagine a 10 episode series with 10,000 people competing for the largest prize in game show history.” Donaldson clearly wants to involve other platforms, too. “Who wants to make history?” he asked, tagging Netflix, Disney, Peacock and [HBO] Max. Only time will tell whether anyone takes him up on the offer. It comes after Mr Beast previously revealed the staggering amount of time he spends making YouTube videos - but insists it improves his mental health. The content creator spilled his secrets on Lex Fridman's podcast, saying: “When I'm really in the grind mode it'll be seven or eight days just non-stop going, going, and then I'll realize, 'Oh, I need some recharge time,' and then go f** binge a season of anime", he says. Shan showed a photo of her impressive 804 score on Credit Wise, who called it "excellent." She went on to share a series of screenshots from her new round of matches, with one writing: "All I needed to see. Drinks next Thursday?" Another responded: "Lmao I have never seen this on here. Respect though." Meanwhile, a third man was so impressed that he asked her to marry him. "My credit is 829 but I feel like that would attract all the broke guys," one fellow TikToker wrote, while another believed "men don't need to know that." "Let them show you THEIR credit score. One person felt inspired by Shan's post, and created a new business venture: "A dating app that analyzes your banking apps and matches you with financially compatible people." Shan opened up to BuzzFeed, where she explained her motives behind doing so. "I had the idea of adding my credit score to my Hinge because I wanted my profile to stand out and attract guys with similar priorities,” she told the publication. Scientists have found an array of “dashes” within our universe, all arranged in an unexpected pattern. The vast structures are lying in the middle of our Milky Way galaxy and point towards the black hole at its core. There are hundreds of them, each five to 10 light-years long, researchers say. “It was a surprise to suddenly find a new population of structures that seem to be pointing in the direction of the black hole,” Northwestern University’s Farhad Yusef-Zadeh, who led the research. “I was actually stunned when I saw these. We had to do a lot of work to establish that we weren’t fooling ourselves. And we found that these filaments are not random but appear to be tied to the outflow of our black hole. By studying them, we could learn more about the black hole’s spin and accretion disk orientation. It is satisfying when one finds order in a middle of a chaotic field of the nucleus of our galaxy.” Scientists have no confirmed explanation for where the structures came from, and much about their existence remains a mystery. But one possible explanation is that they were thrown out from after some activity a few million years ago. In the early 1980s, Professor Yusef-Zadeh found a set of gigantic, one-dimensional filaments hanging across our galaxy, near Sagittarius A*, the black hole at the heart of the Milky Way. The new filaments were previously undiscovered, and are much shorter and lie across, spreading out from the black hole. “We have always been thinking about vertical filaments and their origin,” he said. “I’m used to them being vertical. I never considered there might be others along the plane.” The research is described in a new paper, ‘The Population of the Galactic Center Filaments: Position Angle Distribution Reveal a Degree-scale Collimated Outflow from Sgr A* along the Galactic Plane’, published in The Astrophysical Journal Letters.
